Couples Psychotherapy

The Gottman Method is my main approach to couples therapy it is a research-based approach to couples therapy grounded in over 40 years of studies on what helps relationships succeed or struggle. This approach focuses on strengthening friendship, improving communication, managing conflict effectively, and rebuilding trust and emotional connection. Rather than eliminating conflict, the Gottman Method helps couples understand their patterns, reduce unhelpful interactions, and increase respect, empathy, and emotional safety. Research has shown that Gottman-based interventions are effective in improving relationship satisfaction, emotional intimacy, and conflict management.

In session, we will use Gottman-based interventions to help strengthen your relationship by increasing understanding, emotional connection, and trust. We’ll identify interaction patterns that may be creating distance or conflict and gently replace them with healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another. Sessions focus on building skills such as listening with empathy, expressing needs clearly, managing conflict without escalation, and repairing after disagreements.

Together, we’ll also work to deepen your friendship and emotional bond by fostering appreciation, respect, and shared meaning. Interventions are practical, collaborative, and tailored to your relationship, so you can practice what you learn both in and outside of sessions. The goal is to help you feel more connected, supported, and confident in navigating challenges as a team.

Sessions are typically 90 minutes

Individual Psychotherapy

At the start of therapy, we’ll take time to go over important information and informed consent, so you feel clear and comfortable with the process. We’ll also talk about what’s bringing you to therapy right now—your concerns, hopes, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. From there, we’ll focus on building a safe, trusting relationship, once established.  Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that supports meaningful growth in a way that feels manageable, practical, and aligned with your life.

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches because your needs, experiences, and goals are unique to you. Drawing from evidence-based modalities, I tailor our work to best support what you’re hoping to address, while remaining flexible as your needs evolve. This allows us to work together in a way that is thoughtful, safe, and effective—focusing on practical tools, deeper understanding, and meaningful change at a pace that feels supportive and manageable for you.

Kids + Preteens

Starting therapy for children and pre-teens is a collaborative process that includes parents and caregivers. The first session I typically invite the parents/guardians to the first session, where we take time to go over informed consent, important background information, and any questions you may have about therapy. This initial meeting helps ensure everyone feels informed, comfortable, and aligned moving forward. It also allows me to better understand your child’s needs, strengths, and the concerns bringing your family to therapy, so we can create a thoughtful and supportive plan that sets your child up for growth and success.
